1 Panchamukhi Hanuman is an avatar of Lord Hanuman which appears to have five heads and ten arms.
2 The other four faces which appear in this Panchamukhi avatar are of Narasimha, Adivaraha, Hayagriva, and Garuda.
3 According to Ramayana, Lord Hanuman assumed this five face form to rescue Lord Rama and Lakshmana from Mahiravana.
4 The five faces of Lord Hanuman signifies the five senses (Panch Indriyas) over which Lord Hanuman has mastery.
5 Panchmukhi Hanuman temple near Rameshwaram is a small shrine with huge idol carved out of a single rock.
